2 pandals exclusively for entertainment and dozens of welcome arcades, it was, till date undoubtedly the grandest wedding reception in the region.

According to our reporter Mrs. Reeta Kamble who attended the reception, the event was a community affair in which the Bodo people participated, further cementing the status of Hagrama Mohilary as a role model. The guest list included the Governor of Assam Ajai Singh, Assam State Transport & P & RD Minister Mr. Chandan Brahma, & State Agriculture Minister Mrs. Pramila Rani Brahma, the son of the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, delegates from the kingdom of Bhutan, friends from Nagaland, Assam State Cabinet ministers, dignitaries from Sikkim, West Bengal and Assam and all the residents of the seven neighbouring villages. Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi however could not attend the reception due to unavoidable circumstances. Indian cine star Johny Lever and Indian Idol runner up Amit Paul captivated the attention of the guests with their performances. A cultural night was also arranged for the entertainment of all the guests. Hagrama Mohilary’s mother Budhbari Mohilary said that Hagrama was always reluctant about marriage. She is quoted as saying, “I feel so happy now that my son is going to tie the knot.”

However, certain comments in a report on the wedding which attacked the integrity of Mr. Mohilary which were published in an Assamese daily newspaper from Guwahati had ignited the sentiments of the region leading to a lifetime boycott on the circulation of the paper in the region.
