An interactive session was held by Seemanta Chetana Manch in the month of May at Shillong. This organization has a primary focus on the development of and betterment of lives at the border. Meghalaya has 443 Km of international boundary with Bangladesh.

The irony is that the borders have been made the most neglected and isolated part of the main stream of the society. The common-man of the society has started thinking that the safety security of the border area is the duty of the security forces. With an aim to correct this mindset some people started activites to help the border areas in around 1985 under the name of Seema Jan Kalyan. Their aim was safety, security, development and unity of the border areas of the country. There after the Seemanta Chetana Manch Purvotar in the northeastern region was started.
