Assam left for bled

BTC (Bodoland Territorial Council) and Non Bodo Adivasi community people were killed indiscriminately and mercilessly by the militants belonging to the Songbijit faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB-S) group.  Demanding a separate state for Bodoland it has adopted the path of violence by killing numerous non Bodos.

The curious case of S. I Pearlystone Joshua Marbaniang

On 25th January 2015 at 9pm an officer on duty was found lying in a pool of blood in his official quarters. The circumstance leading to the officers’ death and the ones after his death has lead to mystery. An upright cop has become a victim because of his honesty who followed his orders and made sure that rule of law is upheld.

29th Statehood and Festival of Arunachal Pradesh

Narendra Modi visited Arunachal Pradesh on its 29th Statehood Day. His visit to this easternmost part of the country had clearly indicated for the overall growth and development of all NE states.  He said that the frontier state is blessed with huge natural resources, which has the potential to convert the state into the “growth engine” of the region assuring development in the state. 

FKJGP celebrates its Silver Jubilee

The Federation of Khasi-Jaintia and and Garo People (FKJGP) which was formed on November 3, 1989 concluded its yearlong silver jubilee celebration at U Soso Tham Auditorium.

86 years old Paty Ripple Kyndiah, the former Union Minister an old veteran took his breathe on 26th March 2015 at Bethany Hospital admitted due to cardiac arrest.

Lynching a Jail Inmate

An irate mob lynched a rape accused after dragging the rapist from the high security Dimapur central jail. 5,000 strong crowd paraded the under trial naked and then thrashed him to death  in broad day light in full public view

Will NE states benefit from land deal?

The constitutional uncertainty over the crucial Land Boundary Agreement (LBA), has ended up with happy note, where Bangladesh to get 2267 acre of land from India whereas the counterpart will get 5044.72 acres. Assam formally gained 714 acres of land out of total 982 acres of disputed land along the border. Sushma Swaraj divulged that 510 acres of land would come to India, In Meghalaya and Tripura, while 10,000 acres would go to Bangladesh.

Nagaland’s Opposition Less Government

History was created in Nagaland where arch rival Congress and BJP (one minister each) are at the same Government headed by T.R. Zeliang of the Naga People’s Front. Nagaland Chief Minister has termed the present Government as “opposition less government”, adding that “the dream to have a government without opposition was achieved and it has come true”.

Northeast Insurgency

Insurgency has multiple implications, but the root support base is the people’s support. Such support base or the lack of it makes a group strong or weak irrespective whether these insurgent outfits are genuine or simply a group o hardliner kidnappers and arsonists. The Government is trying to eliminate insurgency at the same time ensuring that the local population is won over to the good samaritan works of army and other central government agencies.

Flood in Assam

Floods has affected as many as 15 out of the 27 districts inundating cropland and villages. 3.11 lakh people in 702 villages of 15 districts have been affected by the first wave. The worst affected was Barapeta where 91,000 people suffered under its impact. It has been in existence for a longer period and has caused extensive damage. One prime reason behind is the geographical location of the state hemmed in by rugged hills on almost all sides.

Long Live Dr.Kalam

India’s 11th President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam passed away due to massive cardiac arrest on 27th July 2015 at Bethany Hospital in Shillong. He collapsed during the lecture at the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong. Meghalaya observed a state holiday on his demise.
