THAI KING BHUMIBOL ADULYADEJ DIES AT 88

The king died on 13th October 2016, at 3:52 p.m. in a peaceful manner. Thailand’s King Bhumibol Adulyadej, ascended to the throne 70 years ago, making the world’s longest-reigning monarch before his death. He has been treated at Bangkok’s Siriraj Hospital since September 19 for fever, lung infection and loss of appetite.

Hundreds of people had for days gathered at Bangkok’s Siriraj Hospital where the king was being treated. They were dressed predominantly in pink -- an auspicious color believed to restore health -- and yellow, which is the color of the king, based on the fact he was born on a Monday. Many people had hoped he would live till 120. The announcement was made around 7 p.m, to the crowd and gave way to devastated wailing and long embraces.
