ARUNACHAL PRADESH Celebrates its 31st Statehood Day

Arunachal Pradesh was all set to celebrate its 31st Statehood Day on February 20, 2017. Like the previous years, a four-day ‘Festival of Arunachal’ was organized at Indira Gandhi Park in Itanagar to commemorate the occasion.

The Festival of Arunachal, which continued till February 23, aimed towards projecting the festival as a symbol of multi-dimensional cultural identity, communal harmony and propagating the spirit of national integration. Apart from an array of cultural programmes, several other events such as opening of exhibition stalls, Film Festival, Food Festival, Fashion Show, Krishi Mela, Arogya Mela, and Flower & Orchid Show were organized to mark the four-day festival.

Union home minister Rajnath Singh was the chief guest of the function. State Governor P B Acharya and Chief Minister Pema Khandu also attended the Statehood Day function. Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thawarchand Ghelot, Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju, Adviser S K Paliwal and other senior officers arrived by a chopper from Guwahati for the event.
