CPI-M FEELS MANIPUR SHADOW IN TRIPURA POLL

By Biswendu Bhattacharjee

Allegation and counter allegations of terrorist link with tribal based Indigenous Peoples Front of Twipra (IPFT) has appeared to be a striking issue of upcoming assembly poll in 60 –members assembly of Tripura slated to be in early next year.

The ruling CPI-M accused it’s main opponent BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi of fuelling IPFT to reopen their decade old relation with banned outfit National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) to win the elections. However, both BJP and IPFT denied the allegations and blamed CPI-M with creating communal divide for narrow political interest. Steeping ahead on the issue legislators of Congress and Trinamool Congress asked the Chief Minister to take action against whosoever if they have link with banned outfit. Interestingly, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has also flagged similar allegations against BJP and IPFT maintaining his party line but have never initiated any investigation into the matter.
