GERMAN CONSUL GENERAL VISITS SHILLONG
|Germany has been reunited since October 3, 1990. The peaceful revolution of the people in the GDR had brought down the wall that had divided Germany into east and west. The reunification process is without historical precedent and a national tour de force that cannot be completed in a few years. 20 years after reunification great progress has been made in rejuvenating the economic and social basis in the eastern federal states. Enormous challenges remain, however, which the people have to surmount together.|
Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany. Mr. Rainer Schmiedchen in an informal interaction with Dr. K.K Jhunjhunwala Editor-in-chief of Eastern Panorama at Shillong, complemented him for giving an in-depth information about North East India through its publication Eastern Panorama. Mr. Rainer during his visit also met Mr. Mukul Sangma Chief Minister, Mr. R.S. Mooshahary Governor of Meghalaya and Mr. W.M.S. Pariat Chief Secretary. Later commenting on his visit, the consul General said, “I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere desire to establish excellent relations between this mission and the Government of Meghalaya and all relevant administrative bodies”.
