During the Nehruvian era, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was an easy target, a kind of universal whipping boy.  The book aims at dispelling the wrong notions associated with the RSS. It is not just a roadmap of the RSS; it is also a revealing book written by a person who knows this organization from within and therefore it has greater authenticity and credibility. It is largely inspired by the visions of RSS and partly based on the firsthand experiences of Sunil Ambekar. It is free from bias for it gives only facts and facts not of the Gradgrindian (Charles Dickens) type rather those that were "half hidden from the eye".

The book underpins the process through which the RSS is recontextualising age old civilisational thoughts in an ever-changing contemporary society. It depicts the 94 years of its journey through “thunderstorm and rain” and that it has not deviated from its goal to make the country strong.

A new and potentially more transmissible coronavirus variant identified as the B.1.1.529 strain has sounded global alarm, raising concerns about what would be the next in the pandemic. The highly transmissible and infectious variant, now named Omicron, has been designated as a ‘variant of concern’ by the World Health Organization.

With only a few hundred cases reported across the globe, available data on symptoms and severity are sketchy at best. Technical experts from WHO and other world scientists locked in studying and monitoring the Omicron and countries across the globe are stepping up international travel restrictions as well as speeding up inoculation of its citizens.

After remaining calm for quite some time, Manipur may again brace violence with reverberation of staccato sounds of gunfire as the latest intelligence reports say the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) likely to launch attacks before the coming February 2022 Legislative Assembly Polls.

This development takes place close on the heels of a foul ambush on a convoy of the 46 Assam Rifles on November 13, 2021 by the PLA resulting in the death of five army personnel and two civilians: the wife and minor son of the battalion’s Commanding Officer Colonel Viplav Tripathi.

It is a welcome development that the Assam State Cabinet has approved restructuring the long over-due new school education on the lines of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 announced by the Modi government last year. The decision to this effect was taken during the State Cabinet Meeting held on November 24 at Bongaigaon under the Chairmanship of the Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma. Notably, based on the National Education Policy, the new academic year in the State will be launched from 1st April, 2023.

Does the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement on repealing all three farm reform laws with a profound apology to the farmers would pose a setback to the Central Government’s subsequent reforms? In India, where a large number of farmers are either small or marginal, what the nation needed was breathing time to allow farms to consolidate and provide the rest of the economy adequate time to generate employment to absorb excess farm labour.  Interestingly, the Prime Minister chose the birthday of Guru Gobind Singh to make his announcement. Does that look like a tactical retreat or a meek surrender and could there be any snowballing effect on his decision, politically, as well as economically?
