Mahila Chief accused Conrad of betraying trust of the People

The All India Mahila Congress (AIMC) chief Sushmita Dev accused the National People’s Party (NPP) Chief Conrad K Sangma for his role in facilitating the entry of the Bharat Janata Party (BJP) in the State. She claimed that NPP is the team-B of the BJP and it will be extremely unfortunate if a young representative like Conrad Sangma actually facilitates the entry of a communal and fascist party like BJP into the state of Meghalaya.

The Mahila Chief who is the MP from Silchar said that “If Conrad plays a role in bringing the saffron party to Meghalaya, it will be a shame to his legacy, and it will be a disaster for the state of Meghalaya. If he is the true son of the soil of Meghalaya, he should fight the saffron power but instead he is joining hands with a communal force like the BJP,” she stated.Accusing the Tura MP of betraying the trust of the people of Meghalaya, the AIMC chief alleged that she is sure that Conrad will joins hand with the BJP as he has done it in Manipur where he had helped the BJP to form the government there.

 

Mean while she urged the party’s Mahila’s to go for door to door campaign to create awareness on the objectives of Congress party. According to her Congress believes in development but the BJP believes in instigating the people and one community against the other.

State Karate Team to participate KAI Senior National Karate Championship

Fourteen members from Karatekas of the Association lead by Mr Donboklang Lyngdoh & Mr Mingson Rymbai as Coach and Manager will participate in KAI Senior National Karate Championship to be held at Kolkata, West Bengal on 13th & 14th January, 2018. Medal winners from this Championship will be selected to represent the country in the coming AKF Asian Karate Championship to be held in Aaman, Jordan and WKF World Senior Karate Championship to be held in Madrid, Spain.

The names of the Karatekas are: Pratima Thapa (Women 45Kg), DanibhalinThangkhiew (Women 50Kg), Banylla Shallam (Women 55Kg, Ind Kata & Team Kata), Barisha Kharbani (Women 61Kg & Team Kata), Phikerbha Kharbihkhiew (Women Team Kata), Josanky Rympei (Men 50Kg), Raphael S. ‘Mission U Nite’ for National Awards 2017

Meghalaya’s Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative, ‘Mission U Nite’ (U and I towards Enrolment), has been shortlisted by the Election Commission as a nominee for National Awards 2017 for creatively engaging the youth. This was informed by an Election Officer Frederick Roy Kharkongor. He said that the recognition came when a human logo of 2,873 young and future voters from 113 schools, three colleges and other institutions earned a place in the Limca Book of Records as the largest number of assembled young future voters in one venue. He mention that “Mission Unite” aggressively championed enrolment with a net addition of 21,455 new voters to the electoral roll amounting to 21.67 per cent of the gap which stood at 99, 015 voters.

North-Eastern Regional Agriculture Fair 2018 concluded

The four days North-eastern Regional Agriculture Fair 2018 which began on 6th Janaury at the Indian Council of Agricultural Research Complex Umiam, Meghalaya today came to an end. The conclusion ceremony been contemplated with a focal theme of “Drive to doubling income of tribal farmers in North East India".

 The closing ceremony was graced by Dr. K.K. Baruah, Principal Scientist & Head, Division of Animal Production, Dr. C. Rajkhowa, Former Director, ICAR-NRC on Mithun, Medziphema, and Nagaland, Chief Guest Shri. Ram Muivah, Secretary, NEC, Govt. of India, Dr. Arnab Sen, Principal Scientist & Head, Division of Social Science. The ceremony end with the distribution of Institute and RAF Stall awards by the Dignitaries.

MPPC soon to announce its candidates 

After the appointment of Celestine Lyngdoh, as the New Chief of Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) the new Election Committee of the MPCC will likely to finalises the names of all the aspiring candidates this coming week. MPCC Chief Celestine Lyngdoh said that it is necessary for the party to finalise the names so that it will be forwarded to the AICC for the final decision as to whom the ticket will be allotted.

The Election Committee of the Congress organised meeting in all blocks to list down the names of the entire candidates who has applied for the tickets. The party is expected to announce the names by this coming week.

KSU urges citizen to be vigilant

The National Register of Citizens (NRC) on the mid-night of 31st December 2017 released 1.9 crore names which have been accepted in the NRC list. This made several Northeast States to stay vigil on the borders to check on influx.

 

In Meghalaya after the Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) the Khasi Student Union (KSU) has urged the State Government to steadily and firmly implement the Meghalaya Resident, Safety, and Security (MRSS) Act 2017. The Union also urged all the other NGOs, Headman, Youth Association, and Villages Defence Party (VDP) to stay alert and keeps an eye on the borders and watch out for illegal immigrants.

North-eastern Regional Agriculture Fair 2018 begins today

The Honourable Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Shri Radha Mohan Singh today inaugurate the North-eastern Regional Agriculture Fair 2018 at the Indian Council of Agricultural Research Complex Umiam, Meghalaya. The 4 days Agricultural Fair is being participated by farmers from all over the Northeast region. While addressing the inauguration programme the Union Minister said that the Central Government has initiated different incentives for all farmers in the country especially for those farmers in rural areas. He also said remind the people that ICAR Research Complex in Umiam has done many basic Strategic and applied research specific to the farming problems of the Northeast Region. All together the Research complex has developed 32 locations for specific farming system which include agro forestry model which would be an alternative for shifting cultivation.

The Minister appreciates the ICAR Umiam for launching several programs to double up the income of the farmers in several Villages across the State for the next five years. He also said that 90 percent of financial assistance is provided to the North-eastern States and he also urged the Meghalaya Government to sincerely utilised and assist all the farmers regarding their financial assistance.

NCP loosing its foothold in Meghalaya

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has unfolded its party flag, to come in a big way in the election arena to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly. The NCP is seen to be ambitious in planning to contest all sixty seats. Hectic consultations and meetings are being held with NCP National Secretary in charge North Eastern State Prafu Patel, the National Secretary in charge. North Eastern States Narendra Verma, who have made up and down trips between Shillong and New Delhi. However there is a major snag, that NCP State President Sanbor Shullai was removed from his post as it was known then that he was flirting with the BJP. Sanbor Shullai represents the key constituency of Laban and was the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly. Recently Mr. Shullai joined the BJP giving a big boost to the BJP.
