Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah walked 5km in the scorching sun behind Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s hearse, accompanied by other BJP leaders, seeking to pay an “extraordinary tribute” to ‘Atal’, the stalwart of the BJP.
The Nationwide campaign of ‘Swachhata Hi Sewa’ Cleanliness is Service, from 15th September 2018 to Gandhi Jayanti i.e. on 2nd October 2018 was launched by Minister of PHE Samlin Malngiang at JNV School, Mawphlang.
The objective of the campaign is to create an environment of cleanliness in the entire country so that the coming 2nd October, the anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Mission and Gandhi Jayanti, can be celebrated in a befitting manner. All NGOs, schools, colleges, social, cultural and political leaders, corporate sectors, government officials, are urged to accelerate Swachhta activities from 15th September to 2nd October.
To mark the occasion a Public Rally was also held by the Block Development Officer, Mawphlang, C & RD Block. Among others who were present during the occasion were MDC, Mawphlang & Lyngdoh Mawphlang, L Blah, Secretary, PHE Department & Mission Director, W R Lyngdoh and SE (PHE), Electrical Circle, Shillong, C Marngar while Deputy Commissioner & Chairman, DSBM (G) East Khasi Hills, P S Dkhar delivered the Key Note and Welcome Address.
Never in the history of India, the people of the god’s own country had been this severely affected. The nature’s fury has paralyzed the entire state, as the catastrophe and torrid pounding inflicted by the rain god made the people run helter-skelter to save their life. Landslides and surging rivers have severely damaged roads, bridges and electricity supply in hilly and low-lying areas in 11 out of 14 districts in the State.
The Chief Minister of Meghalaya Mr Conrad K Sangma launched the “Mega IAS Scholarship” for Meghalaya. The state government will spent Rs.1.4 cores to support the aspiring IAS candidates out of which Rs.95 Lakh will be born from the Chief Minister career Guidance.
Speaking to media person, the Chief Minister said that students from Meghalaya passing the IAS exam is low and from Garo Hills is negligible. From the government would like to give support to students in the forms scholarship in partnering with the Alternative Learning Systems (ALS) limited.
The Chief Minister inform that in the previous year the state government is sponsoring candidates for IAS coaching exam in Delhi with the support of Rs.15 lakh per student, but with the advancement of technology the government is working together with the ALS in coaching the IAS aspiring candidate in the state.
The state government is targeting to assist 200 students for IAS coaching this year 2108; student will be selected through entrance examination that will be held on the 29th September 2018 in all the headquarters of the entire District. For the top 100 students the government will sponsors 100% in the form of Scholarship and 100 students the ALS will gave concession for the coaching.
The admission cost per student will be Rs.94, 000/- thousands this will be borne by the state government for the 200 students. The Chief Minister said that this will help the brilliant students from the state to get the opportunity to appear in the UPSC examination and if they could crack the examination will be good for the state.
Mr. Prateek Bhattacharya National Sales Head said that, ALS has started the coaching centre in Meghalaya four years ago but he is happy now that the Government of Meghalaya is coming up in support of the students who aspired for the IAS. In North East, the Government of Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura has tied up with the ALS in parting coaching for students who are aspiring for IAS.
It is for the first time since the creation of Meghalaya as a full fledged State, by-elections in two different constituencies out of the total sixty had to be held in peculiar circumstances in the 2018 General elections to the State Assembly. Conrad. K Sangma, Chief of the National People’s Party (NPP) was chosen to head the administration of the State with the NPP aligning with leading regional parties, such as the United Democratic Party (UDP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDF), Hill State Peoples Democratic Party (HSPDP) and ruling National Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This combination of understanding had prevented the Indian National Congress (INC) to retain power in the State, obtaining only 20 seats out of 60. Conrad Sangma, not being an elected member of the State Legislative was however chosen as the coalition parliamentary leader, to be the New Chief Minister of Meghalaya.
KHNAM State Youth Wing asked Govt to keep vigil on water supply
The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) State Youth Wing urged the state Government to kept tight vigil on water supply facilities by keeping security guard in order to check any attempt by miscreant to damage the water supplies facilities. The incident at Nongkseh where miscreant dump Mobil into the water supply facilities, has prompted the organization to write to the government for better implementation of safety programme for all water bodies in the State.
The KHNAM also urged the Government to implement section 17(1) (a) of the Water Act which indicate that the State Government through the State Board Planning Committee should implement programme like prevention, control and abatement in all the water bodies of the State.
The Act also indicates that it is the duty of the Municipal and the locality or Village Head to provide clean and safe water to the people residing in the area. The KHNAM also urged the Government to keep check on the water bodies from time to time.
Child Development Ministry issued advisory against
the ‘Momo challenge’
The Ministry of Women and Child Development (WCD) has issued an advisory against the ‘Momo challenge’ and asked parents to monitor their children’s online and social media activity to ensure they are not engaging in the game.
The ministry listed signs to look for in a child that might indicate their involvement in the game and asked the parents to “keep their eyes open”. Parents are advised to not to mention about the ‘Momo challenge’ unless the child already knows about it, the Ministry said that by doing so would increase the chance that the child will search for it on their own. It also asked parents to remain alert if there is a sudden increase in new phone numbers and email contacts in their device. “Monitor your children’s online and social media activity to ensure they are not engaging with this challenge. Parents should take reports from child counselor present in the school at regular intervals,” it read. A good cyber or mobile parenting software is also advised to be installed which helps the parents in monitoring children.
Momo is a social media account on WhatsApp, Facebook, and YouTube, which uses the image of a horror artwork to induce curiosity among children, challenging them to communicate with an unknown number. The account appears to be connected to three numbers in Japan. The challenge consists of a variety of self-harming dares and it finally ends with a suicide challenge. If a user refuses to follow the game’s orders, Momo threatens them with violent images.
Ranikor Constituency MLA Pius Marwein who is the Chairman of Meghalaya State Resource Mobilization and Employment Generation and Co-Chairman of the Meghalaya Khadi and Village Industries Board discussed with Construction Manager Mr. Rupam Pal of the Reliance Jio, Mr. Saijul Haque Shillong Finance Manager and Mr. R. Bahunlang Sanglein the General Secretary UDP Youth Ranikor Circle regarding the construction of new Mobile Tower in the constituency to improve the communication sector in the region.
Rupam Pal said that in the coming month several Jio Mobile tower will be constructed in villages like Phodkroh, Puksora, Wanokchiring, Nongjri, Phlangdiloin, Borsora, Nongnah, Keniong, Rangthong and Phlangmawprah. But before that the company will conducted a survey and seek permission from the Village head for the construction of such towers. Pius Marwein on the other hand urged the Officials of Reliance Jio Company to steady up the work process so people will be benefits from it.
