BJP focus on Northeast India

An elated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after capturing Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, has now set its focus in the North East, including Meghalaya that has set aside the prediction of Ronnie V. Lyngdoh, Spokesperson of Meghalaya Congress, who is still persist that it would be a different story in Meghalaya citing anti Christian stance of the BJP in Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh. The regional United Democratic Party (UDP) which is a strong contender in the upcoming polls especially in Khasi-Jaintia however does not see eye to eye with the fear that has been instilled by the congress. Instead the UDP working president Paul Lyngdoh stated that main land politics and politics of periphery are as different as chalk and chess.
Already in Jaintia Hills there is air of resentment against the congress led alliance government, what the rosy promise of the congress had never blossom in the seven constituencies in the district. The decision of Roytre Christpher Laloo not to contest from prestigious Jowai seat has created a negative impact against the Congress, while candidates of opposing parties have already started intensive ground work as the polls are nearing.

Mahendraganj Constituency located in the Indo- Bangla borders in Garo hills have attracted interest, not only it is a congress strong hold, represented by Dikanchi D. Shira , the wife of Chief Minister yet this time would be facing, U Khasi Muslim Serazul Kharkongor and independent candidate. This is his second attempt at the poll, which he failed to win from Tirikilla constituency in 2013. This time besides Serazul Kharkongor, Dikanchi would be facing candidates of the BJP, NPP, and UDP. Therefore it would not be and easy task for Dikanchi in which the votes would be splintered.
In Garo hills yet another congress leaders Olpiash N. Arengh has resign from the party. Being the president of the Tura block congress committee, he has decided to contest as an independent from theRongjeng Constituency in East Garo Hills. There are 10 contenders at Rongjeng, being difficult to predict the outcome. The NPP member’s district council Deputy Chairman Mettrinsoh Momin resign, being denied a ticket and decided to contest as an independent the current Rongjeng Legislators Sengnam Marak would therefore be facing a horde of contestant in a mix bags, belonging to both national and regional parties.
Preston Tynsong veteran Congress leader and Cabinet Minister from Pynursla yet becoming a prominent rebel of his parent party have ultimately shifted to the National People Party (NPP). On the other hand the Congress has fielded a green horn Dr. Jelington Ryndong, experience in a medical field in the Ganesh Das Hospital, Shillong. Ryndong was however giving clearance right from the block level and also East Khasi Hills District Committee. Preston Tynsong has an advantage of already having vote banks in Pynursla. Yet Congress faithfulls are expected to try out Dr. Jelington Ryndong for a change.
