Exposing The Bogey of DISCRIMINATION AGAINST THE NORTHEASTERNER

So widespread is the influence of the disruptive forces in India’s North Eastern States that even the recent watershed development like launching of GST, the One India One Tax regime, on the midnight of 30th June could not, for a moment, muffle or contain the voice of racism and regionalism that is booming in that corner of our country!
On 25th June, 2017 at Delhi Golf Club, Talin Lyngdoh, a Khasi lady from Meghalaya, was humiliated and shown the door because her traditional costume “Jainsem” was perceived to be a maid’s uniform.
From a road labourer to a school teacher, Dr. Donwa Dethwelson Lapang is currently the most successful Politian in the state. He first contested in the Legislative Assembly Election in 1972 from Nongpoh Constituency as an independent Candidate and served as an MLA before becoming the Minister of State Cooperation, Jails, Education and Civil Defence in the year 1978.
From then onwards there was no looking back until the year 1992 when he became the Chief Minister of the state. Though he held this post for only one year, He was again sworn in as Chief Minister on 4th March 2003. Due to disagreement in the coalition government he resigned from the post on 15 June 2006 and again became the Chief Minister on 10th March 2007.
In the 2008 State Election the Indian National Congress party won a majority of seats. He became the Chief Minister on 10th March 2008, but has to resign on 19th March due to fewer majorities. He again became chief minister for the fourth time on 13th May 2009 when the State was under President's Rule for 2 months.
Apart from holding the highest number of Chief Minister Post he also holds various designations before becoming the chief minister of Meghalaya. 1. 1983 to 1985 - Minister of Planning, Finance, Home, Revenue, Food & Civil Supply. 2. 1985 to 1986 - Minister of Finance (including Taxation), Planning, Evaluation, Home (including Passport), and Revenue. 3. 1986 to 1986 - Minister of Finance (including Taxation), Planning, Evaluation, and Home (including Passport) and Revenue. 4. 1986 to 1987 - Minister of Finance (including Taxation), Planning, Evaluation, and Home (including Passport). 5. 1987 to 1988 - Minister of Planning and Programme Implementation. 6. 1987 to 1988 - Minister of Home, Revenue, and Excise. 7. 1988 to 1990 - Deputy Minister of Home.
The deputy Commissioner department of excise has declared “Dry Day” on 15th August on the account of Independence Day. All bonded warehouses, IMFL Shops, Bars, Hotels and clubs shall remain closed for the entire day to celebrate our Independence Day.
This jurisdiction is applicable to the entire district of East Khasi Hills.
TheDeputy Commissioner of East Jaintia Hills District invites proposals from any Voluntary Agencies/Non Governmental Organizations/Self Help Groups hailing from the said areas for the Financial Assistance from the Voluntary Action Fund (VAF) of Planning Department. This scheme is an initiative by Government of Meghalaya. Under this scheme programs like Short Term Training/Programme and Short Term Workshops/Seminars of Socio Economic will be included.
The Formats/Application and forms for submission of proposals can be obtained from the office of the District Planning Officer, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat. Interest VAs/NGOs/SHGs are to submit their proposals along with the detailed of the scheme and relevant documents to the office of the District Planning Officer, East Jaintia Hills District on or before September 15, 2017.
Usain Bolt a.k.a the “Lightning BOLT” misses out his perfect retirement medal to American sprinter Justin Gaitlin and Christian Coleman at the 2017 International Association of Athletics Federations in London.
This was Bolt’s farewell sprint before his retirement after the conclusion of the ongoing London IAAF Championship 2017.Gatlin sprinted to his glory in 9.92 seconds while his fellow American Christian Coleman finished in 9.94seconds and Bolt clinched unto his bronze medal in 9.95seconds. With this win Gaitlin became the oldest sprinter to clinch gold medal in short distance track at the age of 35.
Bolt is currently the reigning Olympic champion in three events (100,200 4x100) and will go down in history as the greatest Olympiad who has ever competed in track event. He holds the record of winning the 100 m, 200 m, and 4 × 100 m at three consecutive Olympic Games. The eleven-time World Champion, Bolt has won the World Championship 100 m, 200 m and 4 × 100 metres relay gold medals consecutively from 2009 to 2015, with the exception of a 100 m during the 2011 championship due to false start .
