Martin M. Danggo

He is one of the most experience politicians in the state having involved in politics since 1998. He was first elected to the legislative assembly in 1998 through P.D.M ticket from Langrin constituency and joined the congress after three years. He was elected as the Deputy Speaker of the assembly in 1999. He won his second term in 2003 and was elected as the 12th speaker of the Meghalaya legislative assembly on the same year. He was re-elected to the assembly in 2008 and 2013 State Election. Danggo being a teacher himself is keen to improve the livelihood of the poor and also spread education by establishing many L.P and M.E School in his constituency. He is currently in charge of PWD (Roads), Stamp and Registration and

 

Parliamentary Affairs Department.

Mr. Khrang Lyngkhoi joined Congress

Khrang Lyngkhoi the prominent UDP (United Democratic Party) from Langrin Constituency in Ranikor has decided to contest on congress ticket in the 2018 state election. He with some of his followers decided to lend their support to Mr. Marting Danggo a senior Congress leader from their constituency.

When asked what made him joined the congress after serving the UDP for quite long time, he simply that he believe that only congress can truly served the people especially in this region. Beside his ideology he also not happy with his former party in the way the party works especially with their slow tactics in bridging up with the people 0f the constituency.

With his joining the congress party has a strong based in Ranikor in order to retain its majority in South West Khasi Hills District.

The Department of linguistics North Eastern Hill University National Conference

The Department of linguistics North Eastern Hill University Shillong organised or National Conference on revisiting indology and Sanskrit in India on 21st September 2017 at its premises. The inaugural function was chaired by Professor B K Agarwal Dean, School of Humanities, Shri Atul Kothari Shiksha Sanskriti utthan nyas New Delhi was the guest of honour, professor Rajnat bhat head department of linguistics Banaras Hindu University Varanasi UP was a special guest, the coordinator and chairperson of the conference professor Shailendra Kumar Singh, head department of linguistics gave the welcome inaugural address.

Movement of Trucks

With Durga Puja just few days away the Deputy Inspector General of Police (ER), Meghalaya has imposed certain restriction and routes for trucks in order to ease traffic congestion in Shillong city during this celebrations. These restrictions shall valid with an effect from 27th September to 1st October, 2017. No Trucks will be allowed to enter Shillong city from 10:00 AM to 12:00 midnight

Trucks coming from Jaintia Hills on the way to Shillong via Sohryngkham will be stopped at Mawryngkneng, while those coming from West Khasi Hills District towards Shillong will be stopped at Mairang, and those coming from Mawsynram, Sohra and Pynursla towards Shillong will be stopped at 7th Mile Upper Shillong.

 

No Trucks will be allowed to proceed to Shillong via Umiam during the hours of restriction and those proceeding towards Jaintia Hills should ply through the Shillong By-Pass only. However, there will be no restriction on the movement of Trucks towards Ri-Bhoi District via Shillong By-Pass

There’s renewed hope amongst martial arts based sportspersons of Manipur that finally their passion, dedication and hard work would pay off in fulfilling the Olympic dream. This wind of change comes with the global recognition of the newest contact sports that originated from Indonesia – Pencak Silat.

Unlike many other physical sports like Wushu and Kickboxing, Pencak Silat, which will feature in 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia, is recognized by the Asian Olympic Council and is likely to feature in future Olympic games.
