All eyes and all ears are glued to the political mood of the different political parties

There is lot of expectation on the outcome of the last session of the Meghalaya legislative assembly whether it would be eventually the death knell of the congress party and the government itself. Firstly whether the united democratic party with its line up with the Hill State People Democratic Party who would stick together specially when these two have come to an allegiance understanding in the forthcoming polls. The National People Party is however, all out to drive in the nail of the congress dominance in the state. The last session is therefore expected to be dramatic scene in the last and final act of a high voltage political drama before the curtain finally drops.

Mukul Sangma gives confidence to the party in facing any challenges

In spite of the exodus of congress members from the party, Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has expressed confidence that it would be the other way round. Those seeking tickets from other parties but had failed to secure, may seek congress ticket, as there is no other way out. He said that some of the lone rangers are strong contender and they deserve to be considered for roping them into the party fold. Yet the picture is still hazy like the earlier morning hours when the heavy fog eve lope the country side that even the sun rays cannot penetrate. It is the congress selection committee which would give final call. The party is geared up in facing any challenges. He expressed confidence that D.D Lapang though would not be in the fray, yet he would be very much there in the battle field, in planning and strategies. According to his wisdom and experiences, D.D Lapang is therefore the war horse who is still cannot be ignored.

We are wise enough to take our own decision- Tynsong

Former Congress ministers who recently switch party has asked the chief minister Mukul Sangma not to dictate them on what they should do and not to do.

Tynsong, who recently leave congress, was reacted on the recent statement made by the chief minister, who has challenged the rebel legislators to resign as MLAs if they have the courage. While talking to media person on Monday Tynsong said he would happily resign after the Assembly session. Therefore he (Mukul) should not interfere in our decision and we will resign at the right time and the Chief Minister has nothing to advice us as we have grown enough and we are wise enough,” former minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters.

1. How do you plan to carry out research in Northeast India?

Right now we are doing a lot of research on botanical prospects; especially on traditional medicine system and also planning to make documentation programme on it. We will bring our team where there will be proper scientists, researchers and experts who will work on it, so that the traditional work can be given a scientific touch and it becomes established. This will be our effort and whatever we can do we will do for it.

2. Have you visited North East India before?

I have come to Northeast several times but this is the first time that I have visited Shillong. We have done several works in Northeast especially in Assam, Manipur and planning to start here in Shillong too.

3. Are you planning to bring up a factory?

No, we will not be establishing a factory here but we will be making maximum usage of the available raw material, crafts and accordingly we can plan it out. We have planted a big unit in Tezpur. We can take raw materials from here and work on it there. We will train people from here only and establish them.

4. What is your view on Organic Farming?

Today, a new trend is being followed that is “Organic”. I would like to call it as “Fashion”. I would like to apologise for it, but they are just hybrid crops where there is no yield, no proteins, no nutrients. Just because we have not added any insecticides or pesticides it is not appropriate to call it Organic. The traditional seeds which have nutrients in it should not be named as Organic food but be named as Medicinal food. This food should reach the whole world. I do support organic farming but there is a misconception about organic farming. We work on the traditional and original way of organic farming, where there is no fertilised seeds and work on the medicinal point of view.

5. How will you make the utmost use of the resources available in Northeast India?
