The Bharatiya Janata Party Government of Arunachal Pradesh celebrated the completion of its one year in the state at Namsai on 23rd January in a grand way. Namsai was fully decked up for the celebration, witnessing the presence of all the BJP legislators in the state. The government led by Pema Khandu turned saffron in January 2017 and no major hitches were observed in the last one year. Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, who is also one of the three legislators of Namsai district, made all-out efforts to host the event along with the other two, Chow Tewa Mein and Chow Zingnu Namchoom.
From the central leadership of the BJP, Shri Ram Lalji, General Secretary (Organisation) and Shri Ajay Jamwal, Secretary, NE Incharge were present. MoS Home and Arunachal West MP Kiren Rijiju and BJP MP from Assam and Arunachal in-charge Ramen Deka were also present.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu termed the day as “historic” for the government and people. He said that the central government under Narendra Modi has been giving special attention to the North East region and as such Arunachal Pradesh. He further said that the dynamics of the state was different from other states with the varied demographic pattern and cultural mosaic which has to be understood for harmonious coexistence. With such dynamics it was difficult to smoothly take all along together and hence, cooperation was necessary from all stakeholders. Khandu also reiterated his government’s stand against corruption while informing that, the infamous Public Distribution Scam was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation and the recent cases of illegal and fraudulent appointments in various departments was given to the Special Investigation Cell (SIC) for investigation.
MoS Home Kiren Rijiju informed that all the commitments made earlier by the Khandu government has been implemented in this one year. He said that, what he has observed in the last one year was the change in work culture. Rijiju also said that the destiny of the state can change if it works in coordination with the central government led by Narendra Modi. He also added that wasteful expenditures must be avoided and Arunachal Pradesh has the potential to move ahead of other states in the North East if the energy is properly channelised.
