Sikkim Lok Sabha member, Indra Hang Subba has requested the Education Ministry to include Northeast history in the syllabus of schools. In the recent Parliament session, Sikkim Lok Sabha member apprised the House and the Education Ministry that history, geography and culture of the Northeast states are being neglected by the rest of the country. 

Indra Hang Subba requested the Ministry to include, in the syllabus of schools, the Northeast states in a more elaborate manner.

Realignment of political equations in the ruling front for ensuing Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC) elections situation in hills turns volatile. Although ruling BJP and tribal based Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) after a long battle formally retained the alliance and fighting ADC on seat sharing basis, practically each of them has been working against others to defeat. Unfortunately, BJP which runs the government in the centre and state had to bow down to its junior partner IPFT just for survival of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.

Uttarakhand has recently come into limelight for its political instability. Well it has been going on since two decades where a politician has occupied the chief Ministerial post for the ninth time.

Uttarakhand Governor Baby Rani Maurya administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new ministers at Raj Bhawan. Tirath Singh Rawat was sworn-in as the Uttarakhand Chief Minister on 10 March 2021.

The 56-year-old MP from Pauri replaced Trivendra Singh Rawat who stepped down from the post. Tirath was chosen over prominent candidates like Union Ministers Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Dhan Singh Rawat, Satpal Maharaj and others.

With much hype and fanfare, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath completes four years in office on 19 March and he has a long list of achievements, to claim, but his government faces several challenges on various fronts ahead of the 2022 Assembly Elections in Uttar Pradesh.

A 64-page booklet titled “Chunotiyon main talaashe avsar” (Challenges turned into opportunities) has been brought out listing the achievements of his government in various fields in the “four years of service and good governance”.

Besides referring to the presentation of its first paperless budget (2021-2022) with largest ever size of Rs 5.5 lakh crore for all round development of Uttar Pradesh, the booklet list efforts to make the state a trillion dollar economy and bring about improvement in law and order situation, among major achievements.

The Draft Meghalaya Youth Policy 2021 has been tabled by the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya. It is believed to have been drafted keeping in mind all stakeholders in the state striving towards the development and empowerment of the youth. The document has been developed after conducting consultation workshops and deliberation meetings with the Deputy Commissioners of various Districts, government departments which includes the Health and Family Welfare, Social Welfare, Education, Labour Department, Planning, Commerce and Industries, Arts and Culture, Tourism, Forest, Information Technology, and external agencies and bodies such as Indian Institute of Management, Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, Sriperumbudur, and Ernst and Young LLP.

While trying to understand the methodology followed in drafting this policy and the highlighted salient features, there are a few important observations that have been elaborated as follows.
