Professor Dorlando T. Khathing
An independent jury and panel of judges choose these few people to receive the award after a careful analysis and research of the nominees. The award being conferred to Prof. Khathing is based on a few principles and criteria such as, leadership, development, marketing an institute and industry interface of Business school. After a careful research the panel of judges has seen Prof. Khathing to be fit to be conferred with this award. Prof. Khathing will be formally presented with the award on 16th February in Mumbai.
Prof. Khathing was an excellent student all throughout his academic career. He had been on an incomparable spree on his academic achievement right from his school days. He maintained a spree of always remaining in the 1 class division. He had also received his education in some of the finest institutions such as St. Edmunds in Shillong, St. Stephen’s located at Delhi and also the Bose Institute in Kolkata. Hence, it is clear to see that he had a good educational upbringing right from his school days all the way up to his post-graduation.
In previous years that had gone by, he had also received the Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Trust Fellowship (UK). He was also involved in the Atomic Energy Research Establishment, Oxfordshire, England where he worked dedicatedly for about two and a half years. His invitation and selection for the Fellowship was a great achievement indeed as during those times the selection then was done only to one individual in every two years in the combined sciences which included medical sciences.
He is presently serving as a Professor of Physics at North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), however it is a well known fact that he is a profound nuclear scientist by profession. His researches had earlier been implemented at the Bhabha Atomic Research centre which is located at Trombay. Nuclear facilities located in various places such as Kolkata, Trombay, Delhi and even Germany have been under the utilization of Prof. Khathing and his research group. Above all this he has also written over 70 research articles on reputed international journals, successfully completed over twenty major research projects as the Principal Investigator and also has 8 PhD’s and 3 MPhil scholars that have received their degress under his direct supervision.
Prof. Khathing is also the first ever person from the north-east to be appointed as the Vice –Chancellor of a Central University outside the North-Eastern region, by joining the Central University of Jharkhand as the Vice –Chancellor. He was also awarded by the Hindustan Unilever Group in 2010 at the 18th Business School for his contribution to education and he also received the Dewang Mehta award during the same year at Mumbai. Even as the one of the youngest Vice-Chancellors, he has been nominated to participate in the search commission for the selection of Vice-Chancellors of two Central Universities.
