They are responsible for bringing TATA Tiscon in the Northeastern region. They were also first to bring value added solution for bitumen road surfacing and colour coated roofing products. The company is also an ISO 14001 certified company.

The company directly employs over 650 people and as a result of its services, over 1800 people are getting indirect employment and a source of livelihood.

Diversification: The SM Group is diversifying into the hospitality business wherein they are opening two five star hotels, one in Shillong and the other in Guwahati. There are three real estate projects under the banner of Surya Kiran running successfully in the city of Guwahati. They are also planning to enter into power generation projects. All these will generate employment for more than one thousand local youth in the states of the north - eastern region.
