CONCEPT GAMING CONSOLES

CONCEPT GAMING CONSOLES

Nokia Lumia Play

Nokia Lumia Play features two game pads at the back of the phone and they can extend out and be used as such, improving the gaming experience. It is also possible to use the device as a gamepad when interacting with an Xbox 360 console. The device features a high definition 1136 x 640 pixel display, a touchscreen with Gorilla Glass protection. There’s also a 5 megapixel front camera capable of 720p videos, while at the back there’s a 10 megapixel camera with Full HD video capture. This Nokia concept phone runs Windows Phone 8 and measures 7.6 mm in thickness. Lumia Play offers both a directional pad and action buttons, plus there should be some minor shoulder buttons available, although it is not so sure. The handset has a pretty unusual shape, seen from the front with lots of straight edges and straight lines, so without curves. No specs were mentioned, but a quad core CPU and 2 GB of RAM would be welcome. Is such a phone possible?

Xperia PS Vita Gaming Phone

First of all, the design of this PSP Phone is very similar to the one of the Xperia Play, although the interface is all PS Vita. We also get 3 Android buttons on the facade of the device and a touchpad at the back, the one from the Vita. In the sliding gaming area there are two analog sticks, action buttons, D pad, Select, Start and a PS button. For some reason, the model’s design reminds me of the Xperia Neo and the shoulder buttons are very discretely integrated. Xperia PS Vita also has a front camera and it can be said that a quad core Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU is more than enough, as well as 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage, a microSD card slot and a 3000 mAh battery. This would be a killer device and with the PlayStation legacy behind it, it would even burry the PS Vita. So, do you fancy an Xperia Play 2 like this?

Sony PSP 2

Two solid parts and a small and thin display between then, perhaps even a flexible display, although this can’t be guaranteed. The Sony PSP 2 features Bluetooth, WiFi, 3G, a front and rear camera, plus a transparent OLED screen that’s probably 5 inches in diagonal. The device is very easy to hold with two hands and very easy to handle. It feels more like a bigger joystick, than a full fledged console, which is cool. It should also be mentioned that the concept dates from back in 2009, according to the designer, making it even more interesting. The general layout of the D pad, analog sticks and action buttons is pretty much the same as the one we already know, but everything is just… more futuristic and minimalistic. The designer also included the charging port on the right inner side and the audio jack and mini USB port on the left inner side. This is certainly a console worth buying and the shoulder buttons look classier than ever. Simply great!

Xbox Surface Tablet Rendered

The Xbox Surface Tablet packs a 7.5 inch 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution display, a quad core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor and a custom GPU that offers you the power of a gaming laptop. Other specs include 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of internal memory, a back 5 megapixel camera and front 2 megapixel camera. If this was a real Xbox tablet, it would definitely have a Kinect integrated, or something like it. It would also use SmartGlass to connect to Windows 8 PCs, Windows Phone 8 devices, Windows RT tablets and the Xbox 360 console. The main idea of the design Shaik Imaduddin created is that we’re dealing with the basic Surface Tablet, but one that now incorporates gaming controls on the side. Thus, on the right side we have the D Pad and analog stick, while on the left there’s the other analog stick and the action buttons taken from the Xbox 360 controller. This week potential information about the Xbox 720 console leaked and it included a tablet, that somehow is related to a core unit, like the Wii U somehow… Do you think it will happen? Or is this version of Xbox 720 in “Surface mode” more likely?
