Cycling Tour with a message.....

Disturbed by the number of atrocities perpetrated on women,Sougaijam Bidyalakshmi Leima,a 16 year old from Manipur had set off on a cycle tour of the NorthEast region of India which started on the 21st of August,2013 and will go on till the 30th of November 2013.The main objectives of this cycle tour is to spread awareness on the violent crimes committed against women,to impel the government to initiate various programmes on gender sensitization for laying out legislations in order to completely root out crimes against women and also bring forth a healthy working environment in both the public and private sectors of employment which is only possible if both the sectors work together hand-in-hand.The cycle tour was started off in Manipur in which Sougaijam was flagged by the Director of the Social Welfare Department of the Government  of Manipur.Cycling through  the states of North East India,Sougaijam is attempting to widen the awareness on violence on women and also hopes that her tour will bring forth a sense of realization on the value of womenfolk in the society.
