Manipur is a Slum Free State Reveals Census.

Manipur has been reported to be a slum free state by the Registrar General of India in accordance with the recent Census report on slums that had been carried out. It has been reported that Manipur is the only state in the northeastern region of India that is free from slums despite having been reported to contain slums in previous records in the past. According to the 2001 Census, Arunachal Pradesh has been regarded to be a slum free state earlier whereas this is not the case anymore. Manipur, along with Daman & Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Lakshadweep have not reported any slums in the 2011 Census, in which the national slum population is 6,54,94,604. It was also learned that Assam has the highest slum population in the region followed by 1,39,780 in Tripura, 82,324 in Nagaland, 78,561 in Mizoram, 57,418 in Meghalaya and 15,562 in Arunachal Pradesh.
