TEAM ASSAM RIFLES WINS INAUGURAL GOVERNOR’S GOLF CUP

The team comprising of Lt Col Sandeep Sharma and Major RD Dabla of the Assam Rifles recently won the Inaugural Governor’s Golf Cup Tournament which commenced on 23 Nov 2013 at newly developed 18 hole Laitkor Golf Course. Brig CMF Prabhu won the best gross category in the Silver division while, Esha Sharma was adjudged the best lady golfer and Lt Col Sandeep Sharma was adjudged the best Golfer. Air Marshal RK Sharma, AVSM VM, won the longest drive in the category 50 years and above with a driving distance of 362 yards while Col N Selvakumar of BSF won the longest drive in the under 50 years category driving the ball 455 yards.Other winners in the minor events were Dy Comdt RS Yadav of Assam Rifles and Lt Col S Mondal of MH Shillong. Miss Esha Sharma is a 11 yr old prodigy in Golf and is presently slotted at India No 3 in the under 13 yrs Category.
