Annual Plan Budgets by Central Ministries for the North Eastern Region to address its development. Earmarking of 10 per cent of the Annual Plan Budgets of over 52 Ministries under the UPA was indeed.  But most of the funds remained unspent.

It is hoped that with the election of as many as ten political heavyweights representing the NDA from the NE to the 16th Lok Sabha, the DoNER will be made to function more effectively recasting several projects and it will be given adequate attention by the Government and Parliament. It depends on General Vijay Kumar Singh, who has also been appointed MoS for Foreign Affairs, how much interest he will take in the DoNER and convince Parliament and his colleagues to accord priority for addressing NE’s various problems.
As part of his program to involve the people in the development under his ministry, a webpage has been launched where one can send his or her feedback, suggestions and complaints. For the people from the North East living in various parts of the country, an awareness campaign will be encouraged, the Ex- Army Chief General announced.
