The term “Smart City” brings about different images to different people: it could be a city where litter does not exist; a city where there is absolute order and security; or a city where everything works…on time! It could be a city composed of academic wizards, complicated gadgets and gizmos and all inventions never imagined before.
Prime Minister Narendra Damodar Modi’s ambitious project to build 100 smart cities have caught the fancy of the State of Arunachal Pradesh which is hoping to get three slices of the smart city pie.
However, the Prime Minister’s visionary project is a piquant situation for north-eastern State of Arunachal Pradesh as the state’s population density does not meet the requirement of having a population of one million, the benchmark proposed in the concept paper.
