Will Lotus bloom in Assam come 2016?

Will Lotus bloom in Assam come 2016?

Congress gained in the recent bypoll elections in other parts of India but lost the Silchar seat. The loss of faith of the middle class in the Grand Old party of India in Assam is the sign of its journey coming to an end in the state? Or is it just the Lotus which is blooming to its full capacity?

In the last Lok Sabha polls the central leadership of BJP turned a deaf ear to the advice of their grassroot workers and rather nominated Kabindra Purkayastha— who ultimately failed to cash in on ‘Hurricane NaMo’. But it seems that the party has admitted it guilt and in the bypolls BJP nominated Dilip Paul who succeeded in wresting Silchar from the pocket of Congress. In fact, he won with a huge margin.

Dilip Paul has enormous experience under his belt. He started his political career from scratch. He earned a niche for himself in Silchar Municipal Board where he was the leader POLITICS of opposition. On the contrary, Congress had nominated the unheard, unnoticed and unsung hero Arun Datta Mazumder who failed to register his electoral prowess due to the domination of Dev family in Congress’s Cachar unit.

In the bypolls Congress, BJP and AIUDF won one seat each.BJP captured Silchar,Congress retained Lakhipur and Jamunamukh went to Ajmal’s kitty. After the Lok Sabha debacle, Congress leadership took this bypoll very seriously. The results in the just concluded by-elections have proved that in 2016 it would be a herculean task for Congress to maintain itspolitical existence in Assam.Lotus is blooming and is expanding very fast. In fact, it would not be wrong to say that BJP has already won the hearts of neo-middle class. This is certainly a matter of concern for Congress which always claimed to be a party of the aam aadmis.
