Death of a vision

of Dr. M. Angamathu, the then Deputy Commissioner of Karbi Anglong, in the midst of extreme natural surroundings of Kohora village located in eastern Karbi Anglong adjacent to world’s legendary Kajironga wildlife sanctuary, is no longer the adored tourist destination. It is steadily reducing to rubble with each passing day.

Young and dynamic IAS officer M. Angamathu who was eager to fashion something incredible to showcase the astonishing ethnic mosaic of Karbi Anglong, which he fondly described as ‘mystic land of enchanting people’; at his pushiness all eleven development blocks of the autonomous district had to pull their resource including the Soil Conservation department to shape the project. Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council’s then Chief Executive Member Joy Ram Engleng extended full cooperation for the ambitious project including allocation of land.
