Yearning for a New Dawn

Papia, along with two siblings of the family who were dropped out from different classes at primary level because they found it difficult to understand the school-curriculum and also there was no push by parents to attend classes, used to move around amidst the wilderness and vulnerabilities of the madding crowd of railway lines.  Their parents, who work as casual cleaning workers in Railways, are in trouble too because of their temporary job. However, this time they are happy that their children would be mainstreamed in different classes of the nearby school after proper guidance, and there would be monitoring and follow up of their progress in these formal schools by the CHG authorities, so that they need not drop out in the future.

These three siblings are actually part of over one thousand pupils living in vulnerable situations in Guwahati city, who either dropped out from mainstream schools or never visited a school and were mostly untouched by any motivation programme, who would be mainstreamed in different educational institutions, thanks to the unique CHG initiative of  Don Bosco Institute in collaboration with a number of  civil society organizations, clubs, institutions and schools.
