Will Congress move in a new direction in Tripura?
Royal scion Pradyot Kishore Deb Burman was appointed to the post of PCC working president. MLA Asish Kumar Saha, known to be close aide of Leader of Opposition Sudip Roy Barman still sticks to the post of working president. After a major setback of the Congress in February 2013 state Assembly poll, two political parties emerged out of the Congress – Tripura Progressive Grameen Congress and Tripura Pradesh Trinamool Congress headed by senior leaders Subal Bhowmik and Ratan Chakraborty. Even the Congress failed to hold any of the two seats in the Parliamentary elections 2014. In this situation, the All India Congress Committee has made AICC general secretary V Narayanaswami as the state in-charge replacing Luizinho Faleiro.
The similar way, the AICC reconstituted the PCC by bringing the duo leaders in the forefront who were cornered in the party by the Barman camp. Is the re-structure in change of guard of the PCC help in rejuvenating the party to put its step in the Tripura Tribal Autonomous Areas District Council (TTAADC) poll? Or, in other words, will the PCC move in a new direction? Priyanka Deb Barman tries to dig out.
