He assured cooperation from the Central government in this regard. Mr. Rijiju said that the region has abundance of natural resources but lacks in human resource and mentioned that the central government is taking steps to solve this issue. He assured that the central funding to sixth schedule areas like BTC is immediately dealt with without further delay. Rijiju further added that for the progress and development of the area, peace and normalcy in the area has to be bestowed and instances of ethnic and inter-community tensions should not take place.
To conclude he mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of inclusive development of India through various steps and one such step is by reducing the gap between North East and New Delhi. He mentioned that the centre will take initiatives to change the face of North East in the next five years.
Earlier Shri. Hagrama Mohilary, Chief of BTC while welcoming the Chief Guest Shri. Kiren Rijiju, also inaugurated the newly constructed Fly over at Habrubari. Shri. Mohilary talking to the reporters said that they are asking the Home Minister for inclusion of two departments, Home and Relief and Rehabilitation in the BTC. He expressed his satisfaction over the development process in the BTC and said that the region is fast developing inspite of its challenges. It may be noted that the BTC was created after an accord signed between the Government of India, Assam Government and then BLT on 10th February 2003.
