The Bodoland peoples Front (BPF) organized a public rally held in 19th January in Kokrajhar, Assam where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the Chief Guest including state BJP President & the CM candidate of BJP Sarbananda Sonowal, Convener of election committee Hemanta Biswa Sharma and Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Biswajit Daimary.
In the rally PM Narendra Modi said “I have come here today to work with you shoulder to shoulder to bring development to the people of BTC. Today I am among you at a time when there is an environment of unity here. for the last 12-15 years the promises that were made to you haven’t been fulfilled and doing that over and over again is what has led to your anger.

I thought there can’t be any problem in Assam as Congress party was in power for the last 15 years. What has Congress party given to the state which gave the country its Prime Minister for two consecutive terms that governed the nation for 10 years.
There is a long list of promises made to all of you and are still unfulfilled. They didn’t do any work for the last 15 years and expect me to do all the works in 15 months. The Congress must submit facts sheet of its rule in the state for last 15 years before asking for account of work I’ve done in 15 months, is this fair?
Rajiv Gandhi got it right when he said a rupee reduces to 15 paisa as it goes from Delhi to the village across the nation. The solution to all problems of the nation lies in ‘Development’. The first and foremost need of this area for development is infrastructure be it roads, railways or waterways, for which our government has come up with ‘Act East policy’. I have three point of focus for the State Development, Development and Development. Terming development as a sole agenda for the BJP led NDA government at the Centre. I assured that all the work which is pending and all the unfulfilled promises that were made in past will be given special importance. It is my dream that electricity reaches all over the nation and is available 24x7 by 2022 when the nation will celebrate its 75th years of Independence.
I have instructed that the youths of North East should be recruited in Delhi police and the process has already started. Also the Karbi community people living in plains of Assam to be accorded, the Bodo’s living in the hills will also come under ST status, as the two communities are demanding for it. I will also solve the NC Hills problem in the next Lok Sabha Parliament. I announced that Central Institute of Technology (CIT) Kokrajhar will get the deemed university status in one year. The planning for the Rupshi airport will be developed soon, it will be open for IAF and civilians. The Kanchanjangha Express train route will be extended to Silchar soon”.
Close to three lakhs people attented the rally at BTC. Narendra Modi thank the huge gathering and said it inspired him to work even harder for the people of BTC.
However, the people of BTC were expecting a package of at least RS.1000 crore annually for the next 5 years but no announcement was made for any kind of financial package by the PM Narendra Modi.
