But like with most sectors in the north east, big IT companies, distributors and resellers have been, however, shying away. And there are ample reasons for that.

A score of dampeners cloud your mind whenever you think of making a foray into this region otherwise blessed with high rate of English education and friendly climatic conditions. But some problems of the past are being corrected.

“Things are definitely changing. Even resellers and distributors are trying to make use of strategically located north eastern region. The big IT houses too have been showing interest to help the region turn into an emerging economic destination with immense potentials for IT,” says Nikhil Dogra of Rohini Electronics.

“Augmenting all these is the Prime Minister’s ‘Act East Policy’.” the minister for Development of North East Region (DoNER) Jitendra Singh told Eastern Panorama.
