Officials feel that the media hype that the “separatists have snubbed Indian delegation” had actually resulted in the damage to Hurriyat’s credibility instead of hurting the Modi government. For Home ministry officials and intelligence agencies – all these seemed to be on expected lines. Sources said intelligence agencies having worked overtime in Jammu and Kashmir over last few months knew Marxist Sitaram Yechury and other oppositionm leaders would get the snub.

 “The separatists mishandled things by boycotting opposition leaders. This time they will get it on their nose,” says an insider.
