The despair among the ultras is all the more revealing as they are now facing isolation since the general public are distancing from them. The frustrated ultras who are also being hounded by security personals are now targeting innocent Hindi-speaking people and traders with a view to creating conditions for the dismissal of the Prafulla Kumar Mahanta led coalition government in Assam and banking on the center that would be compelled to impose President’s Rule in the state. The evil designs of ULFA and other militant groups are perhaps God send for the principal opposition party of Assam, the Congress(I), who for long has been demanding the removal of the AGP government. Going by reports, the BJP are in quandary in Assam as they seem to have not fathomed the realities in the State as its leaders have also demanded time and again for the imposition of President’s rule.
