FIRE IN MEGHALAYA ASSEMBLY
On January 9, at about 8 pm, there was a rising cry among those who were witnesses to put the blaze down that ravaged the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly. While an infantry of policemen, fire brigade personnel and Army was facing the most daunting challenge to first neutralise the inferno that threatens to engulf the landmark of eighty years old heritage of Gothik design. It had been grandeur of British architecture, a platform embedded with various upheavels and success that had either built or married the politicians of North Eastern region. It had been a house of political entity even during British rule and perhaps the inclusion and annexation of the Khasi states to the union of India had been endorsed at this centre state, hyped-much in detest to the pervading unrest in the state.
