This finding and proposals to further research organic farming was thoroughly discussed in a three day International Conference on Organic food, organised by the centre for Agricultural Research and development, New Delhi, at the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) complex at Umiam in Shillong. The Union Government in New Delhi is certainly aware of the potential of organic farming, which has to be translated into export prospects, and a sum of rupees 100 crore has been granted by the Government for the purpose.
