BATTLING AGAINST THE MIGHT OF THE BRAHMAPUTRA FOR CATTLE FARMING
Umpteen times, the Brahmaputra battered him, made the matter worse for him. But he refused to concede defeat at the hands of the one of the mightiest river of the world. The patience, guts and never-say die attitude of this poor farmer make him special. Septuagenarian Ali has been fighting a battle against the mighty Brahmaputra for the past 45 years to run his traditional dairy unit smoothly through the year. Ali is associated with cattle rearing since his Lower Primary schooling. He bows to the power of natural calamities. But the bottom line is he is a fighter to the core. For, the dairy unit is the be all and end all of his existence. “My battle is to protect the dairy unit which is my prized possession,” Ali says. In this battle, he has emerged victorious on each and every occasion. “It is the call of farming that I failed to refuse. So, at the initial stage of schooling life I took to farming,” Ali, wearing a smileyears to run his traditional dairy unit smoothly through the year.
