World AIDS Day Celebrated

The 1st of December is marked as the World AIDS Day the world over. In Shillong too various programmes were held to mark the day. According to government estimates, there are 196 AIDS cases in the state and 41 patients are undergoing Anti Retroviral Therapy (ART) treatment. In the evening, to mark the occasion, a candle light procession was taken through the main streets of Shillong which culminated at Khyndailad (Police Bazar).
