The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and vice president of the party Rahul Gandhi, Nagaland Chief minister TR Zeliang , Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju were among those who condoled Rishang Keishing. A funeral programme was conducted with state honour by the Government of Manipur at Mantripukhri , Imphal.

Rishang Keishing served as the Chief Minister of Manipur four times between 1980 and 1998.
