Children pray for peace in the New Year
The same twelve submissions were printed on Airtel’s 2009 Calendar. Through this, Airtel’s hope has been to remind the people of the North East that, although there is terror and trauma in their lives, there is the hope that springs from their children, future citizens of hopefully a safer world. In over three and a half years of operation in the North east, Airtel has been actively serving society by promoting a variety of causes.
By hosting rock concerts and other musical events, they have helped to promote music; through tree plantations, health camps and blood donation drives, they have helped promote health and the environment, they have promoted sports by supporting bike expeditions, football and cricket tournaments. In other words, Airtel has consistently tried to promote art, culture and tourism whenever possible. To quote Sudipto Chowdhury, Chief Operating Officer, Bharti Airtel Ltd, NESA, “This art competition was yet another effort in (this) direction. After all, we believe that our job goes beyond providing a strong telecommunication network; we believe that our contribution should also be to accept social corporate responsibility in new and innovative ways, especially at the dawn of the New Year.”
