The Humane Face of the Indian Army
The humane face of the army once again came to the fore when in a unique gesture; the troops of Red Horns Division saved an injured female ULFA cadre Tezimalla Rabha by donating blood. After an intense encounter Tezimalla was found severely injured in the thick jungles of Garo Hills. The troops, displaying the highest order of humanity gave her immediate first aid and carried her on their shoulders for five hours through treacherous terrain and got her admitted to the GMCH through local police. However, seeing her precarious condition the Red Horns Division took upon itself the responsibility of her treatment and evacuated her to Army Base Hospital at Bashishtha, where the troops in a noble gesture donated their blood to save her life and the Red Horns Division is spending thousands of rupees everyday for her treatment and comfort.
In a fierce encounter the jawans of Red Horns Division had gunned down two dreaded terrorists and apprehended three including Tezimalla Rabha, who was seriously injured with a gun shot wound on her thigh. Tezimalla Rabha was apprehended by the army once earlier also but she rejoined ULFA after release from the jail.
