Benning Lyngkhoi, a marathon runner, currently employed with the Services started running competitively in the year 1998 and after that there was no looking back for him. He has participated and won many international tournaments like the Verve Half Marathon in Switzerland in 2006, the Greatest Race on Earth held at Nairobi in 2006, the Australia Gold Coast Marathon held in 2008. His next assignment is at the Bangkok International Marathon to be held in October this year. In the year 2008, the State Government of Meghalaya awarded him the Kiang Nongbah Award for his outstanding achievement in sports. Before joining the army, Benningstar Lyngkhoi who hails from Sakwang village near Mawkyrwat in West Khasi Hills District was an auto driver.
