PHILATELY

Jal Cooper, a famous Philatelist said that postage stamps are an investment, the purchase must be planned methodically, and investment can spread over a period of years. No other hobby can provide salvage (recoup) value to its adherents, followers as Philately. Money spent on fishing, smoking, drinking can never be recovered.

Jal Cooper advises parents to leave a very safe and sound legacy to their heirs. They can not do better than to buy systematically the new issues and thus build up in 10 to 15 years, a fine collection which can be converted into cash at any day in any country.

Even tough Mr. Modi the Hon Chief Minister of Gujarat said that Philately is not just a hobby but a vehicle for spreading knowledge, and the best mode to build and bridge friendship.

Why is Philately so important?

systematic collection and study of Postage stamps, postal stationery and history and other associated subjects. Each year every country including India brings out new stamps depicting the country’s achievements in various fields; science, technology, sports, etc. or to honour and  commemorate an event, a great personality, or projecting the rich cultural heritage, rich  heritage in nature like  flora and fauna of each area and diplomatic relations with other countries.

Philately is thus called the Treasure house of knowledge. It gives instant knowledge to a persistent seeker; one grows in knowledge and gains wisdom over a period of time. A Philatelist never grows old and demented, being a persevering learner, he is always mentally alert, imaginative, creative, innovative, and never has time to be BORED!

So we can start to learn good values through Philately. There is no AGE BAR! A Philatelist is a matured youth, a happy middle aged person, and an active, alert and young at heart elder. This is the Secret of Eternal Youth!

Throughout the changing moods and seasons of life, Philatelists are constantly youthful and contented people …
