Royal Riders’ Green Campaign

In fact, what is more disturbing is that these climatic changes have been taking place “faster than scientists can predict” says a recent report in ‘Down to Earth’ a magazine that the Centre for Science and Environment helps publish.

What is wrong with the weather? asks the report. According to Indian Meteorological Department, disturbances in the air circulation pattern over India led to mercury soaring across the country.

In a move to highlight the issue of environmental degradation in different parts of the state as part of their month long environment day observation under the theme ‘Remembering the Mother nature Month”, Royal Riders have conducted a tree plantation in and around Langol hill range near Imphal recently.

Different varieties of trees available in the region were planted by nearly 50 volunteers of this team  in association with the representatives of Wildlife and Habitat Protection Society (WAHPS) Manipur.

Why such efforts should be confined to Imphal is a question that is very apt at this point of time. Isn’t this heat wave affecting us all and thus the term global warming? We would to well to applaud the efforts of the Royal Riders and follow suit.
