With this purpose, ‘Preetir Enajori’, A Concert for Cancer Care, a fund raising event was organized by Deepsikha in 2008 with the help of a few magnanimous and renowned artists of Assam. But the dream could not take full shape due to inadequacy of funds raised last year. Yet the dream continues to slowly take shape. As such Deepsikha is organised ‘Preetir Enajori, 2009’, a Concert for Cancer Care, at Pragjyoti ITA Centre at Machkhowa recently. This year, ‘Demonic Resurrection, the renowned Rock Band from Mumbai,  performed at the concert. The concert was graced by His Excellency Governor of Meghalaya, Mr.  R.S. Mooshahary as the Chief Guest.
This time,  Deepsikha was supported in its endeavour by the telecom giant, Airtel, as well as by Radio Gupshup 94.3 FM (Radio partner) and DY365 (Electronic media partner). Deepshikha is grateful to Airtel for their support in coming forward to promote the cause of Cancer Care. Airtel has been promoting the cause of health and environment through blood donation and helplines. Airtel’s Virtual Blood Bank will also be helpful to cancer patients in need of blood.
As in the last year, an exhibition-cum-sale of paintings donated by renowned artists of Assam was held this year at the State Art Gallery with the same objective. The proceeds of the sales will go to the corpus fund raised for the building of the hospice. All donations to Deepsikha are exempted under 80 G (5) (vi) of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
Deepsikha appeals to all people to extend their cooperation in making these events successful and in realizing the dream of the hospice for people who are in great need of it.
