Maharaja Agar Singh’s birthday observed.

Shillong Agarwal Samiti recently celebrated the birthday of Maharaja Agar Singh by performing an Arti and also felicitated the prominent citizens of Agarwal Committee at Shillong. Maharaja Agar Singh was a Suryavanshi Kshatriya king, born during the last stages of Dwapar Yuga in the Mahabharat epic era, he was contemporaneous to Lord Krishna and is renowned for his social bent of mind. He ruled his kingdom in this manner as is indicated by reports that he started a practice in which residents of his kingdom were expected to each present a brick and a coin to any newcomer into the kingdom, which, taken together, would enable this newcomer to build his own home and start his own trade.
