New Governor of Tripura Sworn in

Former Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Kamla Beniwal took her oath as the new Governor of Tripura. She is the first woman Governor of any Northeastern state. The oath was administered by Guwahati High Court Judge Amitava Roy at Raj Bhawan.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, his cabinet colleagues, leaders of different political parties, and top civil, army and police officials were present at the brief oath taking ceremony.

Immediately after the swearing-in-ceremony, Beniwal said, “I shall do my best for the all round development and welfare of Tripura and its people. The centre and state have a common aim to flush-out militancy from the Northeastern states.”
