Zillai Annual Conference cum Freshers Meet, 2009

Zillai (Vaiphei Students’ Organisation) the pivotal organization among the Vaiphei students is spearheading the overall development and welfare of the student community across the country and lays special emphasis on the feeling of oneness among the students.

The occasion was graced by Shri. Thangso Baite, Hon’ble member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), as the Chief Guest, Shri. G.K. Chin, IP & TAFS , Controller of Communication Accounts, as the Guest of Honour and Shri. S.K. Hansing, Dy. Manager (New India Assurance Company Ltd.) as the Functional President.

Shri. Thangso Baite, at the very outset in his speech appreciated the meritorious award recipients for their tireless efforts in their studies to pursue academic excellence. Filled with pleasure by the presence of various organization representatives, he further expresses his gratitude for their extended cooperation to the organization. Shri. G.K. Chin, Guest of Honour in his message emphasised on the indispensability of communication in order to bring about the feeling of being united as one. He further stated that communication strengthens the bond between students. Relating to the fact that the world is becoming a small global village, he said that this is enhanced through communication. He asserted that communication is one key which brings together the students.

K. Vaiphei, IDAS (Rtd.) Chairman, VWA (Vaiphei Welfare Association) Shillong, in his speech asserted that the students need to be well informed, equipped and knowledgeable. He encouraged and challenge the students to crack the tough nuts in the present competitive world. Rather it’s a message to the students reminding them that they are the future pillars of the society.

The celebration was no mere tour de force but a unique and moving experience. The conference also holds accolades from various sections of the people and was probably the best ever host event in terms of the turn out. The overall attractions that captivated the crowd turned out to be the freshers’ showcase. A variety of displays including a male miss contest was showcased by the cultural department causing boisterous merriment and convulsive laughter. Besides this, invited artists like Lianching, Joyce, Lalneo Kipgen, Felix Sang Valte, Wilson Sanglian, with their competent voices coupled with richly melodies kept the audience emotions woven in a spell.
