Irom Sharmila Chanu

Irom Sharmila Chanu has been sacrificing her mental, physical desires in her fast unto death. In opposition to laws that are throtling the lives of the people of Manipur, Sharmila, initially accompanied by two other women is now a solitary voice against the injustice against the Manipuri people. Sharmila’s relentless effort is a glaring example of the dislike of the people for the repressive measures adopted by the government. The Govt. of Manipur is at its wits end with the problem of Sharmila as she continues her Satyagraha.
