In the meantime, the Mizoram SSA authority has directed 780 education volunteers to join their posts from January 15 next. Significantly, SSA authority also plans to distribute Free Text Books including exercise books, pen and pencil prior to the starting of the new academic session (from January 15).

Earlier, Dr. R. Lalthangliana had informed the media here that Mizoram government would soon be having 1187 Hindi teachers at primary level and that this was inclusive of the already employed 500 Hindi teachers recruited in 2006 and another batch of 687 Hindi teachers to be recruited for which New Delhi had given a sanction of Rs. 244 lakhs recently.

The Minister was also quoted as saying that a very big project involving crores of rupees is on the verge of being finalized for repairing all government High and Higher Secondary Schools in Mizoram. Dr. Thangliana explained that this is a 4 - year project and the sums involved is from 30-40 lakhs of rupees for each school, adding, that the money would also be utilized for purchasing computers and other applicable learning aids as well as in widening schools premises where schools have big compounds.
