MISS NORTHEAST-2008
Stuti Chaudhury of Assam won the title of Miss North East 2008 which was held at Shillong. The Crinoline Swimming Pool was converted into a ramp for the event. Stuti outshone 15 other beauties from the region to win the coveted crown, Linthoi Devi from Manipur and Layla Iarisa Kharkongor from Meghalaya were adjudged the first runners-up and second runners-up respectively. This year’s event was organised by the Fashion Society Shillong which is celebrating its 25th year of existence. People of Shillong known for their fashion sense turned up for the event dressed in the most fashionable clothes.
The event was celebrated with much pomp and gaiety to mark the 25th anniversary of the fashion society of Shillong. The Fashion Society Shillong has been promoting fashion designers, models and weavers of the North eastern region. Apart from the beauties sashaying down the ramp the event featured singers and performing artists from the eight north eastern states. The Miss North East has become an annual event on the calendar for the people of Shillong and also a major tourist attraction.
